My Priorities
Attract Better Jobs and Responsible Development
First of all, we must attract more and better paying jobs to Lawrence. With our city growing every year, we can focus on attracting businesses that invest back in their workforce and community. We also must make sure we protect the workers that build the next phases of Lawrence. We can do that by ensuring construction done in Lawrence is done by professionals who receive fair pay and benefits for their work.
Keep Our Citizens Safe
We must do all we can to make sure our First Responders, from the police and firefighters to EMTs and all support staff, have the resources they need to do their jobs. We must also look into other ways of providing support and taking some of the weight of keeping our city safe off of their shoulders. Working together within the community to be good neighbors and citizens will make the city a better place for all.
Balance the Budget
Ensuring that government spending is aligned with available revenue is a crucial fiscal priority. Balancing the budget is important for maintaining financial stability and ensuring that the government can provide essential services to citizens without creating unsustainable debt.
Access to Public Space
I would prioritize initiatives that ensure that all members of the community have equal access to public spaces, including parks, plazas, and community centers. I would focus on underserved communities, public transportation, and ensuring that public spaces are safe, welcoming, and inclusive for all community members.
Building for the Future
One of the most pressing environmental priorities is combating climate change. I would prioritize investing in green infrastructure, such as renewable energy projects, electric-vehicle stations, and sustainable buildings. This will not only help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate the effects of climate change but also create jobs and stimulate economic growth.
